Learn about the exciting happenings in the Water Utilities department! From a new logo, new facility and more, we’re upping the ante in our department. 

 

 

For years, Mansfield Water Utilities has offered a variety of interactive, hands-on learning opportunities to our citizens. Now, in an effort to best educate and help you conserve water, we’re excited to announce a few updates!

 

 

Although tours will still occur at the Bud Ervin Water Treatment Plant, our new facility at 620 S. Wisteria St. now offers dedicated rooms and technology for learning, including an outdoor classroom!

Fun Classes for Kids

 

Speaking of our new outdoor classroom…here is a sneak peak of what kids can enjoy learning about in Spring 2016!

  • Get WILD about Water!
    Does your child have a passion for the environment? The H2Outreach Program offers many water conservation and environmental classes through the MAC’s Kids Zone Program. Your child can hang out with H2Owen, become an Aquateer, and create DIY take-home crafts.
  • Bud Ervin Water Treatment Plant Tours
    Tours are great for field trips with the family or with your child's class and comes complete with lessons on storm water filtration, “Where Water Comes From” instruction and hands-on demonstrations of each major process in water filtration and conservation.

 

 

Classes for Adults, Too

 

Are you looking to learn more about everything from gardening to landscape design? Sign up NOW!

  • Texas SmartScape Class
    Classes include gardening tips, landscape design, composting, fall gardens, container gardening and much more. 
  • Rain Barrel Building Workshops
    Here you get the chance to build rain barrels that collect rain water for your gardens/flower beds and learn how you can help conserve water.
  • Get Irrigated, Not Irritated Workshops 
    This workshop will teach you about irrigation systems, drip irrigation, how to make minor repairs on irrigation systems and the importance of the Backflow Prevention Device.
  • Irrigation Controller Class
    Come learn everything you need to know about programing your irrigation controller for winter and spring. 
  • Fix A Leak Class
    Let us show you how to detect leaks and make repairs on sinks, showers, toilets, hose bibs and irrigation systems. 
  • Water Treatment Plant Tours
    We even have tours for adults where you can learn all about what happens behind the scenes to provide you and your family with clean water! 

 

FREE mulch is available to Mansfield residents this Spring. Mulch pick-up is every Saturday beginning March 5, 2016 at 24 N. Mitchell Rd. from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
